I was giving these out at the London Book Fair as well, and people would probably be less inclined to take something that was big or bulky or had part fall off of it.
Postcards
I chose to have 4 different postcard designs. Two from my final major project, and two in my digital flat colour style. The flat colour ones were the most successful in the London Book Fair.
Posters
I had 10 posters printed at A3 size. I chose only the one design for consistency. I didn't give these out at the book fair because they are quite big to carry around, and could easily be damaged if not put in a tube. I will therefore use these to post to my contacts. Also as I only had 10 printed I didn't want to just give them away to anybody.
Stickers
I chose two styles of stickers. One that went with the alien theme posters and postcards and the other that went with the wild west theme postcards. These were very successful at the book fair and all the ones I put out were gone by the end of the three days. I chose only to do the flat colour design as I thought it would work better as stickers than my comic book style. All together there are 24 packets of stickers.

Business cards and postcards were printed at moo.com. I sent away for 10 free business cards from moo to see if I was happy with the design and quality of the cards.

I looked that this website for inspiration and tips on promotional materials. They had lots of helpful hints and tips, and really seemed to emphasise the use of postcards.
This isn't one of the 3 forms of self promotion, however it has my contact details on it and was quite successful at the London Book Fair. Quite a few people took them from the stall and I managed to give a few away as well. This is the comic book I made for my final major project.
